Code of Conduct
GatherConf brings together communities from open source, commercial tech and enterprise solutions, with many different cultures and backgrounds. So that everyone can exchange ideas comfortably, we ask all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers and staff to follow this Code of Conduct, at the venue and in any online interaction related to the event.
Expected Conduct
- Engage in discussion and exchange authentically and constructively.
- Show respect through your words and actions, and listen to perspectives from other domains and experiences.
- Be empathetic and culturally aware, and avoid assuming anyone's background, experience or ability.
- Give and receive feedback about ideas and technology, not about the person.
Prohibited Behavior
- Violent threats, or language that promotes violence.
- Discriminatory remarks or jokes targeting gender, race, sexual orientation, disability status and similar traits.
- Sharing intimate materials or personal information about others without consent.
- Personal attacks, demeaning language, harassment or persistent following.
- Sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual remarks, physical contact and stalking.
- Photographing or recording others without consent, or encouraging or assisting any of the above.
Reporting
- If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, and speaking to the person directly feels ineffective or unsafe, please report it to any staff member or volunteer on the day of the event, or email contact@mg.gatherconf.net afterwards.
- Reports are handled confidentially and with respect for the wishes of the person affected.
Consequences
- The organizers may respond to confirmed violations as they see fit, from asking the person to stop and temporary suspension to permanent removal from the event and community.
- In serious cases, the organizers may act without prior warning and without refunding any related fees.
Thank you for helping us make GatherConf an open, inclusive and vibrant space.
